Our company manufactures a wide range of
wooden body care and other products, to suppliers' own specifications. Within our range are foot files, massage items,
soap dishes and many other small sized wooden products.
Pricebatch (Altai-UK) Ltd was established in 1992, when Russia was just opening up to western trade.
Our 'mission' was to establish a sustainable fair trading link sourcing Russian manufactured product to the UK,
based in an under-privileged community, and to set up a successful 'model' of small private business -
unknown in Russia at that time.
Our intention is to add as much value in Russia as possible, to assist their local economy and to keep our pricing competitive.
We have an FSC
® Certificated Depot in the UK for stock holding and final despatch packaging and labelling to ensure we meet
essential customer requirements for the western market.
The timber is birch, a light honey coloured hardwood with attractive graining, sourced from a forest in the Altai,
central southern Siberia. Through Pricebatch sponsorship and auditing advice this forest gained its Forest
Stewardship Council
® Certification, in 2000, and importantly was the first forest in Russia to reach that
internationally recognised sustainability accreditation standard.
Our manufacturing workshop is in Barnaul, the administrative centre of the Altai.
It employs 250 people and holds its own FSC Chain of Custody certification, funded through the Pricebatch trading partnership.
Associated with our Russian trade is a Community Social Fund, locally managed, to meet a broad spectrum of welfare needs.
